Job Summary

The Aftermarket and Sustainment Engineering (ASE) organization in Puerto Rico is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of Design Engineering Manager.

The Design Engineering Manager is a challenging and visible leadership position for the right individual and provides an excellent opportunity to directly contribute to the success of P&W and ASE while delivering repairs for our commercial and military engine customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sets priorities, allocates tasks, and supervises staff (primarily intermediate or experienced design engineering professionals) to meet project targets, budgets, and milestones.

  • Develops design engineering team members into a highly proficient engineering team by creating and monitoring their training plan in alignment with departmental financial goals.

  • Identifies and reacts to project problems, recommends solutions, plans projects, allocate resources, conducts project meetings, and prepares reports to communicate the status of the project within and beyond the project team.

  • Acts as a point of contact with the Program Managers and customers and develops understanding on customer needs to meet demands.

  • Works collaboratively with Design Leads and supporting teams to solve technical issues.

  • Coaches team members and ensure compliance on appropriate policies, procedures, and control processes to meet work requirements and business objectives.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

  • 8 years of relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years’ experience

  • English fluency (verbal and written)

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
