Work Arrangement​​: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Bedford GPS on a full-time basis.

The Role:

The main purpose of the Industrial Engineer is to work to eliminate waste of time, money, materials, person-hours, machine time, energy and other resources that do not generate value. As the IE, you will develop, recommend, and implement changes which will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and or product quality.

The Industrial Engineer will develop, recommend, and implement changes which will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and productivity. The Industrial Engineer works directly with production and engineering in implementing lean manufacturing systems.  Data analysis skills will be needed to help production departments improve performance.

The ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced manufacturing environment is critical to your success. The position requires an ability to work with little direction, to look ahead to problem solve operation issues and a desire to break through obstacles.The ideal candidate for this position is a someone who has a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, along with experience working in a manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do:

  • Analyze throughput data to determine plant bottlenecks then work with the production, maintenance, and tooling teams to eliminate the bottleneck while utilizing the TIP process.

  • Work to improve efficiencies through waste elimination and process improvements.

  • Support production department productivity optimization plan.

  • Perform data analysis to improve shop metrics and tackle complex problems.

  • Provide Technical support and assistance to manufacturing and maintenance team members, production supervisors and production associates.

  • Support GMS (Global Manufacturing System) strategies including resource support for production team, improvements to standard work, and basketweave team support as needed.

  • Assist in establishing operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques such as cycle time studies, STDS.

  • Optimize use of floor space, materials, personnel, and equipment.

  • Facilitate and Lead the plant layout process.

  • Report on launch deliverables to meet new product launch timing. Update metrics monthly.

  • Provide analysis for special projects, cost studies, etc. as needed.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)​​

  • Bachelor’s degree with major in Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience

  • Manufacturing Engineering or Plant IE experience with a minimum of 2 years

  • Proven ability to design work operations that meet safety, quality, and efficiency requirements.

  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

  • High level of computer, written, and oral communication skills

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusually difficult.

  • AutoCAD experience

  • Knowledge of Standardized Work (STDS), Simulations, Man-Machine Charts, Time Studies, and Throughput Improvement Process (TIP).
