Warehouse Management System (WMS) Control Room Lead

Job Description

The Role:

Lead role at Spring Hill Manufacturing for the planning and implementation of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).

  • Can understand and articulate specific plant safety rules and ensures all WMS project team members are educated on safety policies and follow the rules.
  • Understands Material Flow inside a warehouse and on the plant floor.
  • Educates the plant team on WMS and its potential benefits driving accurate Annualized Direct Business Benefit (ADBB) calculation that is committed to by plant leadership.
  • Links & Supports Compression strategy so that the implemented WMS works efficiently.
  • Leads the operational planning for User Acceptance Testing (UAT): including developing UAT criteria, test cases, test case data and development of simulated physical environment.  Continuous improvement toward standardized processes.
  • Leads the plant team in developing and executing End User Training (EUT).
  • Leads the operational planning for Inventory Conversion and WMS Launch (Go-Live).
  • Coordinates and maintains associated hardware and equipment functionality that supports WMS.
  • Plan, Execute, and Maintain WMS process and configuration interfacing with PPS, EPS, MGO, GEPICs, etc.
  • Planning & Operational Support for all systems (EPS, PPS, MGO, WMS, GePICs).
  • Actively participate in detail business requirements gathering and project milestones.
  • Configuration due to continuous improvement processes (configuration due to kitting/sequencing cells moving or being added).
  • Responsible for suggesting and implementing Quarterly Enhancements to WMS.
  • Supports the implementation of GMS Principles in the WMS process design.
  • Responsible for KPIs, Metrics, and Data Reporting that comes with WMS.
  • Capture Lessons learned throughout all stages of the project.
  • This role will be present on all shifts. 

Qualifications:

  • Proven ability to work independently, take initiative, plan, and organize.
  • Computer skills with understanding of Microsoft Office, WebEx, SharePoint, Visio etc.
  • Prominent level of analytical problem solving when problems are complex and difficult.
  • High functional capability with material floor systems: MGO, RF-EPS, PPS, GePICs.
  • Familiarity with: LMS Kitting/Sequencing, Scrap Processing, Material Flow.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Systems and Senior Leadership Team ( SLT) implementation and execution.
  • Interpersonal skills work in a cross functional environment to achieve results and drive change.

What Gives You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications / Skills):

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, and/or Information Technology.
  • A strong understanding of lean material strategies, material layouts, flow planning, and supply chain processes.
  • Prior experience with a WMS (preferred, not required).
  • Strong analytical, computer, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS-Office tools (Advanced Excel / Access Preferred).
