Data Protection, Digital & Purchasing Support, Legal Section Manager

Main Tasks & responsibilities

In the context of the AMIEO region, the Legal Section Manager will – under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel for Distribution, New Technologies and Purchasing:

  • Support legal matters in Europe relating to Data Protection (in conjunction with AMIEO DPO), Digital and Connected Services – providing strategic advice, supporting business on contracts,  T&C / ToU, Privacy notices, etc;
  • Reporting key legal issues and hot topics arising within the related scope of Legal function;
  • Support cybersecurity incident response team in Europe;
  • Support procurement activities (including within the scope of IS-IT, Sales & Marketing, After Sales, Brand & Customer Experience, Customer Quality & Dealer Network Development, HR & General Affairs, Cybersecurity);
  • Advice on strategic management of key suppliers;
  • Advise on Autonomous Drive legal aspects;
  • Work closely with the other Nissan Legal team members to share information and best practice to ensure consistent legal approach and to relay information that would support their local activities;
  • Deliver legal training sessions on relevant topics to Business, Purchasing functions;
  • Ensure that Legal team’s deliverables are provided on time and escalate any issue to the Assistant General Counsel in a timely manner;
  • Provide regular updates to the Assistant General Counsel;
  • Coordinate junior members of the legal team within the Data privacy, New Tech and Purchasing,
  • Perform any other legal tasks, as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • LLM/Master 2 or any other equivalent Law Degree
  • 5 to 10 years of experience as an in-house legal department preferably or in a law firm with a generalist profile in business/commercial law and regulatory topics; preferably in an international environment;
  • Strong knowledge in Data privacy regulations and practice;
  • Strong knowledge in contract drafting and negotiation (including purchasing contracts, complex IS/IT agreements and partnership agreements);
  • Experience in New Technologies (IoT, Connected Services, Data Protection), marketing communication, and endorsement / sponsoring would be appreciated;
  • Ability to work with various departments in a cross-functional manner and on projects covering several countries in particular with Purchasing and Compliance departments;
  • High sense of coordination, organization and logistics;
  • Strong sense of pragmatism with the ability to multi-task;
  • Creative problem-solving, strong general business orientation and curiosity
  • Focused on results delivery;
  • Outstanding communications and drafting skills in English and the ability to explain complex issues in plain English to business functions.
