AIT Manager for optical Payloads (d/f/m)

The AIT Manager is responsible for the definition and execution of all Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) related activities during the phases of a given spacecraft or payload project.

Your tasks and responsibilities

In project phases A/B1

  • Supports / surveys designs w.r.t. AIT aspects (typically in early phases such as A & B1) to ensure relevant aspects of the production phase have been considered during the early design and development stage trade-offs.

  • Contributes to the overall verification strategy and Verification Control Documentation.

  • Allocates requirements to specific verification tasks.

  • Defines the AIT/AIV program (AIT/AIV Plan), model philosophy, AIT flow and AIT schedule.

  • Produces relevant AIT documentation for key milestones of the early stages of spacecraft / payload development.

  • Provides cost estimations for follow-up phases of all AIT activities.

In project phase B2/C/D/E

  • Responsible for the delivery of AIT tasks in quality, in time and in cost, up to and including the launch-ready spacecraft or payload.

  • Responsible for the planning, organization and reporting of all AIT activities and status in front of project and line management.

  • Responsible for the management of inputs to AIT, AIT execution, outputs out of AIT.

  • Responsible for the planning, management and organization of the complete AIT team cross all relevant disciplines, including chairing of regular team meetings.

  • Responsible for the implementation of all applicable AIT standards and project specific requirements.

  • Support of project management in meetings with the external customer, and direct customer focal point for all AIT-related topics.

Desired skills and qualifications

  • The responsibilities associated with the role as AIT Manager require firm understanding of the space project AIT environment and the roles all participating disciplines play in this process.

  • Firm grasp of project management processes and tools, particularly with respect to team leadership, cost management and scheduling.

  • Fluency in both spoken and written English in a prerequisite, German language skills are advantageous.

  • Willingness to travel for extended periods of time, particularly during test and launch campaigns.
