Job Description
Responsibilities:
-
Manage a team of Paint Process Engineers responsible for plant operational support.
-
Trains, develops, selects, and evaluates Paint Process Engineering employees.
-
Assists in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems.
-
Manage process and quality related electrical and mechanical projects including installation of new or replacement equipment, continuous improvement initiatives, and periodic repair and refurbishment.

Participate in functional area plant meetings to represent Manufacturing Engineering and assist in improving the plant’s performance.
-
Support daily production activities, including investigating conveyor and equipment issues to provide technical input for problem resolution.
-
Coordinate with departmental tech support engineers and HQ Vehicle Systems engineers on new model process and equipment planning, including model changes, throughput improvements, sourcing, etc.

Support GMS and BIQ4 initiatives.
-
Manage assigned WSS Performance Safety Standard.

Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for improved ergonomics, health/safety.

Maintain good working relationships with peers, represented & non-represented employees.

Provide input into the establishment of Manufacturing Engineering plant budget, NPP funding forecasts, and appropriation request estimates.

Maintain proficiency in his/her field

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)
-
5+ years Manufacturing Engineering experience
-
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusually difficult
-
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
-
High level of written and oral communication skills
-
Ability to work OT or off-shift as necessary
Preferred Qualifications:
-
10+ years of Process Engineering experience
-
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering
-
Prior salary employee leadership experience
-
Experience working in a union environment
-
Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)
-
Experience with painting processes
-
Experience with Fanuc Robotics
