PTED Lead Process Engineer

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Paint Process Engineers responsible for plant operational support.

  • Trains, develops, selects, and evaluates Paint Process Engineering employees.

  • Assists in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems.

  • Manage process and quality related electrical and mechanical projects including installation of new or replacement equipment, continuous improvement initiatives, and periodic repair and refurbishment.

  • Participate in functional area plant meetings to represent Manufacturing Engineering and assist in improving the plant’s performance.

  • Support daily production activities, including investigating conveyor and equipment issues to provide technical input for problem resolution.

  • Coordinate with departmental tech support engineers and HQ Vehicle Systems engineers on new model process and equipment planning, including model changes, throughput improvements, sourcing, etc.

  • Support GMS and BIQ4 initiatives.

  • Manage assigned WSS Performance Safety Standard.

  • Enforce safe work practices as the highest priority and implement objectives for improved ergonomics, health/safety.

  • Maintain good working relationships with peers, represented & non-represented employees.

  • Provide input into the establishment of Manufacturing Engineering plant budget, NPP funding forecasts, and appropriation request estimates.

  • Maintain proficiency in his/her field

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years Manufacturing Engineering experience

  • High level of analytical ability where problems are unusually difficult

  • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others

  • High level of written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work OT or off-shift as necessary

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Process Engineering experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering

  • Prior salary employee leadership experience

  • Experience working in a union environment

  • Experience/knowledge of GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS)

  • Experience with painting processes

  • Experience with Fanuc Robotics
