This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business].

Mission:  Track/Mentor/Support the VAA's (Value Added Assemblers) that are suppliers who assemble suspensions, headliners, consoles, and also mount & balance tires on wheels and ship them in sequence to the GM assembly plant.

As VAA Planning Supervisor, you will have supervisory responsibility for a medium (4 to 6 people) group of employees developing strategy and plan for 3rd party VAA supplier to support new program launch and foster an atmosphere of teamwork and cooperation. You will build and maintain good working relationships with employees, plant teams and 3rd party suppliers.

What You'll Do

  • Single point of contact for all VAA process issues

  • Assist MIM with eSOR kick-off and issues (Coordinate with all Appendix owners)

  • Provide VAA Subject matter expertise and help run Technical Reviews

  • Provide cost target estimates for VAA modules being sourced

  • Coordinate and co-host VAA PFMEA (Level 3 and 4) workshops and Reviews

  • Generate and maintain VAA Processes & Documents as needed

  • Develop and Improve VAA Standardized work TISs, RASIC, Forms, Timelines, etc

  • Support development and review of Business Cases when needed

  • Represent Vehicle Systems Manufacturing Engineering to VAAs

  • Supply VAA cost input to MPS studies for impact to plant budget (target estimates), tooling and M&E costs and trial part costs

  • Assist VAA Execution MEs Responding to CR's for VAA Assembler impact

  • Communicate with CMEs to ensure VAA content and assembly is included in design and PDT / CIT Team (GM Asm. Plant / includes VAA)

  • Assist VAA Execution MEs getting Control Drawings delivered to VAA

  • Assist VAA Execution MEs getting MPDs delivered to VAA - First Delivery

  • Assist VAA Execution MEs Ensuring that EWOs are delivered to VAA

  • Assist VAA Execution MEs as they Approve:

    • Sequence Containers for the Modules (up to SORP)

    • Process Control Plans (PCP) (correctly assigned in the SOR)

    • VAA Tooling and Equipment

    • VAA Assembly Process(s)

    • VAA plant layout

  • Assist VAA Execution MEs and QE in reviewing VAA quality plan

  • Ensure Start Up funds for VAA Pre-Production including parts (training & System validation parts) are adequately identified and provided to the IM & MIM for inclusion into the MPS (part of Target cost development)

  • Ensure VAA systems are validated working with the VAA Execution ME and the MIM

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)​​  

  • 5+ years previous experience in the associated sub-system (assembly plant and/or product) or program management assembly related or launch related

  • 4-year degree in a related field OR equivalent experience in process and tooling

  • Strong analytical ability

  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills

  • Good Presentation Skills

  • Understanding of Short Lead Time

  • In depth PFMEA knowledge

  • Up to 25% Travel to Assembly Plants and VAA Supplier Facilities

What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)​  

  • 5+ years’ experience (Processing, Tool or M&E development or Launch management)

  • In Depth knowledge of the VAA Commodities

  • Plant Experience

  • Understanding of GVDP (Global Vehicle Development Process)

  • Engineering degree (preferred)
