The Role

In this role, you will get the chance to work on a wide variety of engineering projects in a team environment with other Facilities Maintenance and Engineering team members. This role is critical to ensuring that all Facilities systems function to support optimum conditions for vehicle production.  You will be responsible for oversight of facilities upgrades and repairs, such as roofing projects, HVAC systems, pumps, chillers, various controls as well as various plant support systems.

 

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Develop a proactive safety culture by engaging team members and peers in our safety processes 

  • Understand and effective use of Global Manufacturing System  

  • Assist with operational issues related to Facilities equipment

  • Monitor operation of Facilities Systems: HVAC, power metering etc. 

  • Attend Ad-Hoc meetings 

  • Monitor projects, Non-Portfolio Projects and planning 

  • ESA monthly inspections 

  • Attend Electrical Safety Work Practices committee meetings 

  • Provide guidance for engineering interns 

  • Ensure that all work is done in compliance with General Motors safety policies and provincial regulations 

  • Meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect.

  • Delivering High Quality Outcomes – Engineering high quality, sustainable systems and processes that sustain future business productivity in multiple types of business units. Ensures that the facility management team is positioned to succeed amid changing business trends.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Facility Engineering.

  • Experience with PLC hardware and programming software.

  • Experience with a wide variety motor controls including VFD’s, soft-starts, and reduced voltage starters.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD, Maximo, Rockwell and other technical software.

  • Understanding of Engineering Principles and Throughput Improvement Process (TIP).

  • Demonstrated Project management experience. 

  • Experience with facilities equipment including fire alarm systems, HVAC, building and parking lot lighting,  and building automation equipment.

  • Experience in power system maintenance.

  • Understanding of arc flash hazards and calculations.
