Cost Engineer - Electronics & Software

We are an ambitious organisation, and we are looking for an equally ambitious and innovative Cost Engineer to join our dynamic Cost Benchmarking & Budget Setting team.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost estimation for software design and development, unit piece cost and vendor tooling
  • Budget setting by part for full programmes
  • Supporting global Cost Benchmarking & Budget Setting activities
  • Generation of cost reduction ideas
  • As you would expect, being a global organisation, working cross functionally across the business (Inc. R&D, Product Planning & Market Intelligence) will be an essential part of the role

Background and Experience:

  • A strong background in software project planning or cost estimation
  • Considerable industry experience working for an OEM or Tier 1 Supplier in Automotive, Motorsport, Defence or Aerospace industries would be advantageous
  • An ability to perform Function Point Analysis
  • A good understanding of electrical/electronic components
  • A good understanding of how parts are manufactured and assembled
  • An understanding of the main drivers that affect costs
  • Some specialist manufacturing process experience such PCB assembly, EOL test and Software Flash
  • You need to be a self-motivated character with the ability to work in a team and on your own and a good communicator
