Responsibilities
The System Test Engineer will have multifunctional responsibilities in the project team, to:

Review of system requirements and architecture design to assess testability and plan test coverage, in collaboration with System Engineers and Function Owners.

Contribute to the specification of test environment requirements for Bench, HiL or Vehicle environments, in collaboration with Test Tool Developers.

Design test specifications fulfilling system functional and performance requirements and standards.
-
Develop test methods for the system level testing of automotive camera systems, mechatronic ECU systems, automotive software features or end-user functions.
-
Plan and execute system testing aligned with the project schedule.
-
Support trace analysis and troubleshooting to determine root cause of issues and validation of fixes.
-
Communicate with customer teams from time to time on issues found, customer workshops and joint testing events.
The System Test Engineer has the individual responsibility to ensure;
-
Comprehensive coverage and depth of system testing against system level requirements and standards.
-
Traceability of system test specification to system requirements throughout the project development.
-
Test capability and readiness for the phase of system development and planned system maturity.
-
Maintenance of the Bench, HiL or Vehicle environment as required to fulfil the testing needs.
-
Implement test automation capability following platform standards and project automation targets.

Implement stress and robustness testing of the system and features.
-
Execute testing of planned features in bench and vehicle environments.
-
Monitor the progression of planned testing and prove status of test completion and deviations.
-
Report on detected defects and overall execution status and report for assigned features.

Maintaining test results, test logs, test reports and review process throughout the project lifecycle.

Execute vehicle testing onsite, at other Valeo sites, or on customer sites where required.
The System Test Engineer will contribute to professional and organisational development by;

Continuing Professional Development by completing planned training and targeted certifications.

Continuous Improvement proposals, to introduce new testing concepts, cover new issues, new requirements and new corner cases to develop the comprehensiveness and depth of testing.

Target opportunities to minimise the bug escape rate in system testing for projects.

Develop and implement test methods to emulate vehicle testing at bench and HiL.
-
Highlight areas for improvements to increase robustness and level of automation of the test system.
-
Ensure ASPICE compliance by applying internal development processes.
Education/Training
-
A relevant Technical Engineering Degree e.g. Computer Science, Physics, Electronic Eng. or equivalent.
-
System Test engineering experience, with a minimum of 2 years experience in a multifunctional environment.
-
Executed projects in Automotive Domain.
-
Knowledge of ISO26262/ISO15504/SPICE.
Professional Experience
-
Ability to work from specifications to product realisation and testing.
-
Ability to debug System issues/bugs and report accurately internally and to the customer if needed.
-
Compile / Analyse / Generate test reports.
-
Previous knowledge in building test automation solutions.
-
Develop and maintain good professional working relationships, within the test team, other internal departments (Software, Hardware, Mechanical, Project Management) and the Customer.

Develop test environments for new applications

Innovation and development of alternative test solutions to existing applications
-
Innovation with regards to test case development in order to give maximum test coverage thus avoiding issues occurring at customer site for each software release during the development cycle.

Experience in using communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet.

Ability to use various test tools e.g. Vector CAN tools (CANoe, CAPL) and vehicle bus simulation environments.

Programming skills in either; C++, C, C#, Python, .NET or NI LabVIEW & NI TestStand.

Use of IBM DOORS requirements management system or CodeBeamer ALM solution.
