WHAT TO EXPECT

 

We are currently hiring for the position of a Senior Tooling Engineer to join the team at the Castle Bromwich and Solihull Press Shops; you will lead a team of 4 – 5 Die Engineers, all assisting with the launching of new stamping dies. You will work closely with the Global Manufacturing Team, starting the hand over process of new tooling at die buy off stage, and seeing he new dies through the commissioning stage and through to PSW. This aspect of the role will require occasional travel abroad and cross country to meet with suppliers.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and execution of the commissioning of press tools and new press tools within the main Press Shop.

  • Analyse production data to create and drive activities to eliminate quality concerns caused by die for both BIW and internal scrap/rework.

  • Lead feasibility, cost & the introduction to engineering change requests from internal & external requests.

  • Work with Current Manufacturing Engineering to identify any part geometry concerns through the annual PSW verification process; then creating & leading the activity plan to correct any die related issues to bring geometry back to master panel condition.

  • Lead launch activities in line with EQAP+ Home Line Commissioning 1, 2 & 3 events.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

In order to be considered for this role, you will need to have an extensive background within tooling/stamping within the automotive industry. You will also need to have leadership experience due to the nature and responsibilities of the role.

 

  • A thorough understanding of press tool design, methods and technologies.

  • Extensive stamping knowledge, from a technical background

  • Experience working with Outer Surface Stamping Dies

  • Knowledge and familiarity with key processes, facilities and technologies used throughout the pressed parts process chain.

  • Aluminium experience preferred over steel

  • CAD/CATIA experience
