NNA Finance Analyst Balance and Control

Job Summary
This position serves as a business partner with the Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation organization and with our outsource/offshore partners by providing accounting input for the handling of certain accounting transactions.  This position provides subject matter knowledge by understanding and managing the general ledger related to Retail, Lease, and its related cash transactions as well as understanding the systems impacting these transactions.  Compiles and analyzes complex financial information having a major fiscal impact on the company; prepares complex reports; prepares general ledger accounting entries and monthly account reconciliations.

Job Functions

  • Ensure that accounting transactions around Retail and Lease activity are performed accurately and in accordance with Corporate and external requirements (GAAP and IFRS).
  • Functions as a team lead on special projects.
  • Actively involved in the accounting closing activities by preparing and/or reviewing journal entries and performing account analysis.
  • Prepares/reviews monthly account reconciliations: research open items and account discrepancies, coordinates resolution of open items with other impacted departments and management.  Makes recommendations and implements solutions.
  • Coordinates the monthly recurring entry and monthly accrual entry reversal process.
  • Prepares and reviews periodic reports such as financial statements and management reports.
  • Regularly reviews processes, anticipates needs of the department and looks for areas for improvement; makes recommendations and can implement solutions.
  • Leads the offshore/insource accounting team including but not limited to tracking their KPIs.
  • Updates policies and procedures.
  • Research accounting topics and writes white papers as needed.
  • Prepares analysis of the impact of journal entries/transactions to the cash flow statements.
  • As necessary, performs other related duties.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, FASB interpretations and IAS.
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to function without supervision; ability to prioritize, and complete multiple assignments; able to improve efficiency through process improvements and automation.
  • 2 to 3 or more years of related experience at a professional level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, SAP, Mainframe, Blackline and other accounting systems strongly desired.
  • Advanced English level.
