About the Role:

This is a dynamic role, where the ideal candidate will be expected to turn their hand to many different aspects of functional safety, across all systems of the vehicle.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the development of process implementation for FuSa and the integration of these into the wider team.
  • Leading the education of engineering teams, with the development of Functional Safety capability & culture, within their engineering domain.
  • Core FuSa Delivery.
  • Developing ISO 26262 work products at the OEM-level - Item Definition, HARA, FHA, Functional & Technical Safety concepts and requirements.
  • Developing ISO 26262 supporting documentation, safety plans, safety cases and safety analyses, for example, FTA.
  • Supporting the SW team with the development of working processes, to meet ISO 26262 Part 6.
  • Performing gap analyses for existing systems for integration to new platforms and developing/changing safety requirements.
  • Developing safety validation strategies (Plans and Specifications).
  • Supporting/Performing safety goal validation testing.
  • Performing Verification review activities.
  • Leading Development Activities.
  • Supporting the Systems Engineering team to develop electric systems specifications, according to Functional Safety Standards.
  • Regularly interacting with the chief and lead engineers within each engineering commodity, both within Lotus and the wider GEELY group. This will be key in developing a rapport with engineering teams and supporting them in implementing FuSa processes, whilst ensuing organic growth of a safety culture within the teams.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience in developing Functional Safety work products, from an OEM’s perspective & developing ISO 26262 Part 4, 5 and 6 work products & supporting processes.
  • Experience in developing and supporting Safety Goal Validation and vehicle-level integration testing.
  • Background in Systems Engineering for any Automotive Systems.
  • Good understanding of Electric Vehicles architectures and variants, including a system level knowledge of BMS and EDU subsystems.
  • Experience with training and coaching engineering teams in FuSa.
  • Experience with working with requirements - capture & change management tools.
  • Proven ability to work with diagnostic software & tools (CANalyzer, CANOE, CANape and/or Vehicle Spy).
  • Ability to handle multiple simultaneous tasks and manage time across several ongoing projects.
  • Experience in team leadership and end to end project delivery.
  • Ability to think on your feet and make decisions, with a risk focus and identify where further evidence and rationale is required.
  • Inquisitive attitude, with a nature to ask the tough questions and approach an understanding from new perspectives.
  • Breadth of knowledge across multiple vehicle items, such as EV powertrain, ESP and batteries would be beneficial, alternatively the ability to quickly learn and understand vehicle systems.

Other Factors:

  • Occasional travel to other sites / suppliers may be required.
  • Driving licence is required.
