Inventory Control Group Leader - Warehousing and Distribution

Job Description

Work Arrangement:

  • This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to [specific location where employee is expected to report to Memphis on a full-time basis.

  • This job is not eligible for relocation benefits. Any relocation costs would be the responsibility of the selected candidate

The Role

As a production group leader you will lead, guide and develop a highly effective team of hourly union team members to meet customer demand. Create daily business plans to ensure all business objectives are met/exceeded for you assigned area while creating an inclusive work environment. Work cross functionally as part of a high performing team to help achieve business results for the business as a whole.

 

What You’ll Do

  • ​Train, develop, and Evaluate a diverse team of hourly union team members.

  • Lead Global Manufacturing system(GMS) processes and improvements

  • Create productive working relationships to work cross functionally with Management and Union partners to resolve hourly team member concerns and drive business results.

  • Understand and administer National and local agreement provisions of agreements between General Motors and the UAW.

  • Improve business results through the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Contribute to a work environment in which team members can speak up and are accountable for safety, quality standards, and performance.

  • Optimize, implement and train team members to standardized process.

  • Effectively manage Warehouse inventory and resources to optimize department performance

  • Manage, investigate and resolve inventory and quality control issues from identification to resolution.

  • Utilize data, analytics and insights to identify opportunities for department improvement opportunities.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) 

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience. 

  • 3+ Years in a Warehouse, Distribution or Manufacturing environment

  • Knowledge of Warehouse management systems and associated technologies (WMS, Exacta, Autostore)

  • High level analytics and problem solving skills

  • High level interpersonal and conflict resolution skills 

  • Ability to work any shift as needed

 
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) 

  • Experience in a union environment

  • Six Sigma Certification

  • Masters degree in Business Administration or related field
