Work Arrangement

This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Warren Technical Center on a full-time basis.

The Role

GM’s Global Electrical Support Team (GEST) strives to Empowering Manufacturing Excellence for Superior Customer Satisfaction.

This role is central to enhancing our manufacturing workforce's skills, bridging the knowledge gap as vehicle complexity increases with features like adaptive cruise control and emergency braking. The focus is on providing top-tier training to ensure flawless execution of sophisticated features, maintaining our commitment to safety, and driving experience. The educator in this role is responsible for upskilling employees at all levels, ensuring they can navigate both current and future electrical architectures with precision.
 

What You'll Do:

Building Confident, Knowledgeable Employees for Improved Manufacturing

  • Maximize Employee’s Understanding and Knowledge Retention

  • Develop and refine educational materials to deepen understanding in technical systems and manufacturing processes.

  • Collaborate with experts to tailor learning experiences, continuously improve training materials, and implement engaging activities.

  • Deliver high-quality technical and soft skills training, embracing feedback for continuous improvement and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruct on Electrical Manufacturing Processes, Strategy-Based Diagnostics, and more to AMEC participants.

  • Travel extensively for on-site training and curriculum development. Up to 25% Travel dependent on the need of the plants.

  • Drive improvements in launch execution and quality through training.

  • Collect participant feedback to enhance training effectiveness and foster strong relationships across the organization.

  • Work collaboratively with the SMEs and Instructional Designers to best target our specific audience.

  • Create engaging activities that build confidence and understanding

Additional Duties:

  • Be proficient at delivering technical and non-technical training

  • Adapt to training schedule changes, promote a safe and inclusive learning environment, and support learners' diverse needs.

  • Engage in plant and supplier visits, work in manufacturing roles for better understanding, and seek continuous feedback for improvement.

  • Collect and act upon feedback from students, peers, and leaders to improve presentation and delivery skills.

  • Cross-train on other courses to be able to effectively deliver, and relate learnings to, material that is outside of your field of expertise.

  • Continuously pursue personal and academic growth.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) :

  • Work with teammates to seamlessly adapt to changes in training / support schedules
  • Actively promote a safe and inclusive learning environment
  • Be vigilant about discovering the needs of each learner and then provide all support needed (educational, emotional, career path, etc.)
  • Strong instructional skills in technical topics, adaptable teaching style, quick learning ability for new subjects.
  • Strong interpersonal, team-building, and analytical skills; bilingual in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Experience in automotive or manufacturing instruction, particularly in electrical systems, with a comprehensive understanding of GM’s Global Electrical Support Team
  • Understanding of GM’s Global Electrical Support Team and its role with manufacturing, engineering, and the customer
  • Experience working within a manufacturing plant
