Introduction:

Help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in Boeing EASA IPT (Integrated Project Team). We are looking for a mid-career Part 21J Cabin Interiors, Design & Certification Engineers with evidential background in driving safety and technical excellence, innovation and best practices within complex and matrixed organisations.

Responsible to Aircraft Interior Modifications Manager, the successful candidate will be an integral part of supporting all BGS EASA Modification activities to develop, certify and integrate new interior design solutions such as interior cabin changes, Cargo Handling, Water & Waste Systems and Exterior Liveries. The candidate will be working directly with airline and leasing customers while collaborating with BGS global engineering services team across multiple time-zones, using variety of 3-D and 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and/or other design methods.

This role is based in BGS EASA Modifications site in the UK. Travel to other sites is expected with occasional international travel.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform the following duties:

  • Develop engineering design solutions with the use of CAD for modifications to aircraft cabin systems such as:

  • Modification to cabin layout by introducing new LOPA (Layout of Passenger Accommodation) and its associated changes such as Passenger Service Units (PSU), Emergency Equipment, etc…

  • Installation of Galleys, monuments, lavatories throughout the cabin to suit end customer requirements.

  • Modification to the existing aircraft environmental systems such as air conditioning systems, water and waste.

  • Introduction of new aircraft paint schemes (liveries) and emergency marking system.

  • Installation/Modification of new OFCR (Overhead Flight Crew Rest) and OCRS (Overhead Crew Rest Station)

  • Produce substantiation documents in order to demonstrate compliance with relevant regulatory and operational requirements, including:

  • Flammability documentation

  • Design reports (egress, direct view, etc…)

  • Ground test plans and reports

  • Cabin walkthrough plans and reports

  • System Safety Analysis for interior components and systems.

  • Compile engineering accomplishment documentation and instructions for continued airworthiness including;
    -Service Bulletins / accomplishment instructions
    -Aircraft and component manual supplements

Work Authorisation:

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Ireland. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the EU. Boeing will not attempt to obtain Immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Ideally hold a Degree from an accredited course of study, in aerospace or other safety critical engineering.

  • Ideally have 5+ years of experience working in an EASA Design Organisation (DOA) or similar Aerospace field.

  • CATIA V5 and AutoCAD industrial experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of both Type Design and Continuing Airworthiness for part 25 aircraft.

  • Extensive knowledge of the certification of part 25 aircraft and their aircraft interior reconfiguration programmes and primary and secondary aircraft structures.

  • Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of EASA regulatory and applicable airworthiness requirements in particular CS-25, 14CFR Part 25 & Part 21J design organisations.

  • Proven record of delivering complex engineering change programmes with demonstrable project management skills.

  • Experience of EASA design organisation projects along with strong time management skills

  • Professional manner in order to protect and enhance Company's reputation as a world leader in large aircraft manufacture and continued airworthiness.

  • Ability to work on multiple programmes with varying level of requirements efficiently and effectively

  • Ability to priorities workloads and show flexibility to changing situations / demands.

  • Proficient with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
