To purchase goods and services to budget and timescales in order for the business to meet its customer expectations using framework agreements.

To conduct activities in collaboration with relevant department leads to ensure that the most effective solutions are employed while working within the guidelines and rules of Finance and Procurement to maintain fiscal standards. To develop and maintain excellent relationships with existing and future suppliers.An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Buyer to work out of our Kirbymoorside, North Yorkshire facility on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract within the aerospace supply chain sector.

Duties to include:

  • Support the Senior Buyer

  • Performs routine day-to-day activities associated with the products and services administering and expediting purchase orders

  • Managing MRP requirements to satisfy production schedules and implementation of appropriate recovery plans. Shortage reporting and resolution

  • Receive Bills of Materials and carry out system checks on materials and services to be supplied to projects and shipping requirements.

  • Negotiate with suppliers obtaining best price and lead times, resolving any supply chain issues

  • Liaises with customers/ suppliers to respond to routine queries regarding contract and supply chain issues.

  • Provides input to project meetings to answer questions concerning contract/supply chain matters.

  • Monitoring and measuring process performance producing regular and accurate management information/reports as required.

  • Adheres to a range of standard procedures and precedents to solve problems which arise, with instruction direction and guidance available from others

Experience:

  • Ability to build supplier relationships and engage with suppliers

  • An effective communicator with a good understanding of techniques that drive Quality/cost improvement

  • Manufacturing procurement experience (including reading technical drawings, engineering background preferred)

  • Experience with Supplier KPI’s and performance management

  • Ability to draft standard letters and responses.

  • Proficient use of MS applications with good understanding of MRP and other planning systems

  • Good verbal and written communication and negotiation skills

  • ‘Lateral’ thinker – someone who can find solutions for problems and ‘think outside the box’
