As a Steering HiL Rig Engineer, you will be supporting a Lead Steering HiL Rig Engineer in developing the Hardware in the Loop (HiL) test environments, creating and updating test procedures/specifications, and testing steering software functionality.  You will be responsible for the end-to-end test life cycle, developing test plans to support test report deliverables, and interacting with suppliers to resolve issues.

 

The role involves understanding, operating and maintaining the Steering HiL rigs, and working with the steering electrical and software team to deliver steering software functionality to quality, cost and time.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Supporting development of HILST environments (L3 Component and L4 Systems Level) for Vehicle ECU subsystems test/verification/validation, in accordance with formal requirements.
  • Capturing all functional requirements for HILST environment to satisfy ECU/Systems testing.
  • Liaising with the steering software integration team and diagnostic engineers to convert high level requirements into Excel-based test cases.
  • Supporting the development of bespoke tools/modules as required to fulfil ECU testing/validation (ISO14229 Diagnostics / Part 2 / Part 1 / Automated Test).
  • Using and configuring commercial tools as required to support ECU testing/validation (Canalyzer, Canape,  AVD, INCA, Vehicle Spy).
  • Analysing and replicating vehicle issues in HiL environment.
  • Analysing test failures and supporting the Lead Steering HiL Rig Engineer and/or Systems Engineer.

 

WHAT YOU NEED

 

  • Understanding of mechatronic systems such as EPAS, Brakes or active suspension.
  • Working Knowledge of dSPACE based HIL infrastructures such as SCALEXIO, Control Desk, Automation Desk, IO Cards configurations.
  • Experience using Vector tools like CANalyser/CANoe/Canape to debug CAN networks and signals.
  • Good working knowledge of Vector HW/SW Diagnostics tools to work with CAN FD, Flexray and Ethernet.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience using Python and m-script writing for productivity tasks.
  • Hands on working in Simulink based model testing (e.g., Model in loop)
  • Basic knowledge/experience of Automotive Cyber Security, Autosar 
  • Experience of test management tracking tools such as JIRA and/or XRAY.
