Pratt & Whitney AutoAir is looking for a highly motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer in the Ground Test Nacelle Division. The person will be responsible for day-to-day engineering support for layup and assembly cells and ensure activities align with the goals of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create SAP assembly product structure based on knowledge of standard practices for manufacture of this configuration of assembly. Create high volumes of SAP material masters, during development.

  • Create SAP BOMs for development programs prior to assembly drawing creation from information gleaned from RFQ’s, emails and past knowledge of what is required to complete build.

  • Creating work instructions for the layup of composite structures. Creating assembly work instructions for Nacelles, Intakes and LAPF.

  • Develop one off repair processes for new component rework and assemblies damaged in field based on satisfying original design requirements utilizing composite industry standard techniques.

  • Traveling to the customer to oversee the installation of product. Assist design staff in efforts to ensure manufacturability based on site capabilities.

  • Reviewing non-conforming parts, determining a repair and disposition for quality.

  • Support purchasing with properly specified alternate parts such as fastener part numbers to support builds in a timely fashion based on what satisfies design requirements and is commercially available at that time.

  • Coordinate with structure analysis group to develop testing method for composite materials, resins, weld coupons, 3D printed components.

  • Coordinating with others to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods as well as applying CORE (Customer Oriented Results & Excellence) tools.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years engineering experience of to include duties specific to Ground Test Nacelle development or manufacturing engineering or Advanced Degree in Engineering or related field and 3 years of engineering experience to include duties specific to Ground Test Nacelle development or manufacturing engineering or a High School Diploma and 9 years of engineering experience of to include duties specific to Ground Test Nacelle development or manufacturing engineering.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CREO solid modeling and Windchill data management.

  • Understanding of hardware, blueprints, dimensions & tolerances (GD&T), and manufacturing methods.

  • Ability to interface effectively with both internal and external customers.

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles and tools (i.e., LEAN, CORE, ACE, or Six-Sigma).

Must be a U.S. Citizen. This position may require access to systems/tools that are restricted to individuals who possess US citizenship.
