WHAT TO EXPECT

 

Maximise your potential as a Senior Data Engineer within our wider Body Chassis Engineering department. In the department, the Data Analytics Chapter aims to empower engineers to make data-driven decisions by providing accessible, reliable data and delivering insightful analytics to squads across the organisation. The team develops methods and tools that leverage the data collected from off-fleet and Customer vehicles, supporting improvements to Body/Chassis features and systems that will ensure an expectational experience for JLR’s customers.

 

You will be curating the invaluable datasets that enable our Data Scientists and Analysts to generate insights into our systems and how customers operate their vehicles. You will work closely with other Data Engineers, as well as collaborate cross-functionally, as you build efficient data pipelines with large volumes of complex data from various sources. As a key member of the chapter, you’ll lead the development of new methods and tools, promote best practice techniques and continuous improvement, and work closely with the Chapter Lead to develop others.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Understand data requirements of engineering teams in Body Chassis Engineering, and create efficient, effective solutions that allow consistent and accurate data to be accessed for analysis
  • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines, databases, and tables in the Cloud environment, monitor data quality and troubleshoot data issues when needed
  • Ensure customer privacy is protected at every stage of data extraction, transformation, and loading
  • Develop knowledge of JLR data assets and look for opportunities to improve the flow of data
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and the continual improvement of the team’s technical capabilities, and collaborate with the wider JLR data community to ensure the team works with the latest technology, techniques, and best practices

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Extensive experience in Data Engineering, Analysis, or Science and/or within an Engineering field, particularly Automotive
  • Practical application of SQL and Python
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms, preferably GCP or AWS
  • Advanced data manipulation and processing skills - competent in writing clean, high-quality, testable code, and experience in implementing and maintaining data pipelines
  • Knowledge of data management and data governance principles, with an understanding of access and version control
