Senior Accountant, Accounting Policy

The Senior Accountant, Accounting Policy is an individual contributor who collaborates with stakeholders to create and update accounting policies in specific areas. They communicate policies, provide technical guidance, and ensure consistent policy application alongside the Senior Manager, Accounting Policy. Additionally, they conduct research and documentation to support policy implementation for new business lines or emerging standards. This position offers exposure to finance management across various business lines and opportunities for career advancement within Lithia.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting Policy, the Senior Accountant's responsibilities include:

Responsibilities

  • Establishing and documenting accounting policies for Lithia & Driveway, seeking feedback from stakeholders, and incorporating necessary changes
  • Performing US GAAP research and documenting any non-GAAP accounting policy deviations
  • Maintaining the accounting policy manual to reflect approved updates
  • Providing guidance on accounting policies and coordinating with team members across business lines to align accounting practices
  • Coordinating with technical accounting to ensure ERP chart of accounts align with FCCS and making adjustments as needed
  • Supporting quarterly topside adjustments for SEC reporting, as needed
  • Developing policy implementation roll-out plans and monitoring adherence to new policies
  • Providing detailed guidance on general ledger coding for programs and incentives

Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of business operations, accounting principles, and U.S. GAAP
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Sense of urgency
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Products
  • Working knowledge of a major ERP system and other accounting systems desired
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of relevant l experience
  • CPA preferred
