Job Title: Model Based Design Engineer

Summary of Role

Raytheon UK is looking for a dynamic and ambitious Model Based Design Engineer to work within Raytheon’s Power & Control (P&C) Business. Reporting to the Engineering Lead, this is a creative and stimulating role offering excellent development opportunities and the chance to work alongside our highly skilled technical team.  The successful candidate will be responsible for helping to develop and maintain Power & Control’s world class power product portfolio and roadmap.  This is a complex and challenging role that will be highly rewarding, with extensive communication and interfacing requirements with key stakeholders, demanding excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of energy and stamina. The work location will primarily be based at our Glenrothes or Livingston facilities with frequent visits to other customer sites in the UK and occasional travel to the US. 

Main Duties

  • Working effectively within a multi-disciplined design team
  • Develop Control Models for Power Electronic Plant to meet customer specifications
  • Develop and mature our Model Based design practices to reduce design lifecycle.
  • Assist in developing MATLAB modelling techniques to simulate our Plant.
  • Model concepts and assess solutions for new product
  • Develop new solutions from algorithm choice through to Autogenerated code
  • Develop firmware interfaces for electronic components
  • Test and commission prototypes with Models in the Loop
  • Develop both Models and Processes to meet traceability and validation requirements of DO178 and DO254
  • Documentation of Verification and Qualification of products industry and customer standards
  • Configuration of product designs and their controlled change.
  • Produce design documentation and reports for project artefacts/deliverables
  • Support customer discussions, leading in your area of expertise.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Honours degree in Electronics or a related discipline
  • Experienced in MATLAB and Simulink for Model-Based Design (MBD). 
  • Experience with programmable devices
  • Good and demonstrable problem-solving skills
  • General Electronics knowledge
  • Innovative thinker with self-motivation
  • Good communicator able to work with others

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Xilinx FPGAs, Experience of writing RTL code for FPGA and verification of FPGA using VHDL.
  • Use of Xilinx Vivado tools and Mentor Graphics/Seimens Modelsim for simulation
  • Practical experience in electronics design or test
