The Raytheon Specialty Aperture Mechanical Design Section is seeking an entry level Mechanical Engineer for RF design at our McKinney, TX location. The candidate will reside within the Advanced EO & RF Mechanical Engineering Department and perform mechanical design and documentation of Antennas, Radomes, Radio Frequency (RF) Sensors, and supporting electronics and sub-systems. The candidate will contribute to design concept development, mechanical modeling, mechanical RF design, and trade studies in addition to performing hardware design and documentation. The candidate may also be involved in small internal research and development (IRAD) projects.

The candidate will be involved in developing technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems. The candidate shall follow established procedures and instructions while working under the direction of a Lead Mechanical Engineer to ensure that overall design goals are met. The ideal candidate would have experience in the use of solid-modeling CAD software and work with a mentor to gain experience in advanced surface modeling techniques to support electrical analysis of radar cross-section (RCS) signature. The candidate will provide mechanical outlines, construction details, connector selection and specifications, mechanical and assembly drawings. The ideal candidate would also have training in the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) for design documentation and design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA). Familiarity with ANSI drawing standards is a plus. The candidate will be also responsible for meeting cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements for their work products. The position will require frequent interaction with electrical engineers, other engineering functions, program chief engineers, and suppliers. Periodic travel, up to 25%, may be required as needed to support off-site activities.

Basic Qualifications:

0-2 years of experience in the design and manufacturing of composite and radio frequency products for military and aerospace applications.

Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field.

Ability to travel periodically to suppliers, manufacturing facilities, and customer sites to support programs (up to 25%).

Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook).

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Ability to obtain U.S. Secret security clearance and special access clearable.

Desired Qualifications:

Solid modeling experience (preferably CREO).

Knowledge of GD&T, ANSI drawing standards, and first order analysis techniques.

Experience with polymer matrix composites for radome applications.

Understanding of advanced surface modeling to support electrical analysis of radar cross-section (RCS) signature.

Experience with radar absorbing materials.

Experience with testing of electronics to military environments (MIL-STD-810).

Leadership skills and project management skills.

Strong presentation and communication skills.

Active U.S. Secret security clearance and special access clearable.

Required Education:

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

Desired Education:

M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited university

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Requires theoretical knowledge typically obtained through University Degree. Limited to some knowledge of RTX organization.

Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and less than 2 years prior relevant experience. Engineering/Other Technical Positions:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
