About the Role

Lotus is recruiting for an experienced solicitor to join the Legal and Compliance team at Lotus Cars as Junior Legal Counsel.

Working closely with the Director of Legal and Compliance this role will provide overall support and consultancy to other departments within the business in connection with day to day operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the commercial business by providing advice on a variety of legal and compliance-related matters.
  • Responsible for drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements with suppliers, subcontractors, customers, authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Practice areas will include a wide range of corporate commercial matters, with a primary focus on commercial contracts, intellectual property, data protection, and general corporate compliance matters.
  • Maintain correspondence with external counsel and authorities.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • UK Qualified Solicitor
  • A proven background in drafting commercial contracts and negotiation
  • Experience in either Intellectual Property, Data Protection or Dispute Resolution
  • A strong understanding and knowledge of commercial transactions and negotiation for domestic and cross border transactions
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong relationship building skills with the ability to influence at all levels
  • A proactive and organised approach to work
  • Able to manage and deliver work to conflicting deadlines

Desirable:

  • Working in a legal role with international exposure
  • Experience in commercial contracts and licensing
  • A background as an in-house lawyer within a corporate group
  • Experience in the automotive industry
