WHAT TO EXPECT
Prototype Build Operations is responsible for delivering Prototype Properties within JLR to our Engineering customers. Working as part of the wider Prototype Operations team, you will be part of the timely delivery of all of our Prototype Builds. The role will cover many aspects of in build delivery, while coordinating a small, highly motivated team to ensure a flawless approach.
The role will be liaising with many functions across the business, with excellent exposure to other areas for personal growth and development. You’ll have responsibility for helping maintain each project on the required timings to deliver a clean and successful build event, engaging with and raising issues where appropriate, systematically challenging the norm.
By driving and motivating your team and those around us, you’ll ensure that the quality of the product is not compromised by the ability to deliver on our commitments. You’ll be determined to achieve deadlines and be proactive in anticipating and preventing any build stopping issues, ensuring the build assembly team have everything required to build & deliver properties of the future of JLR. Naturally, you’ll always be on the lookout for improvements that can be implemented to enhance our processes along the way.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
• Lead build issue management topics across multiple builds via eCCAR and JIRA, and both support and chair build progress events, both internally and externally to the department.
• Work with the Vehicle Engineering and Test & Development teams to ensure we deliver fit for purpose properties to our customers.
• Work closely with the build workshop operations team on facility, process and resource planning, to ensure each programme is delivered on time and to the agreed quality levels.
• Ensure that delivery and customer targets are met and the appropriate communications are in place to ensure our customers are always well informed.
• Support the on-going development and enhancement of the prototype build processes and support embedding the department into the Agile mindset.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
• Strong & methodical problem solver with excellent understanding of issue management techniques & processes.
• Demonstrate good project management experience and a track record of successful project delivery.
• Have knowledge of whole vehicle systems, bill of material creation & maintenance, product development structure and processes, and prototype build and planning processes.
• Be self-motivated, enthusiastic and proactive, demonstrating your ability to work with minimum supervision and use your own initiative.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
