Job Summary:

MSEN Engineering is seeking an experienced and innovative team-player to serve as its Design Deputy Manager reporting to the Military Development Program (MDP) Mechanical Systems Design Manager.  The selected candidate will work on Military Development Programs in a fast-paced environment, leading engineers of all experience levels through conceptual, preliminary and detail design activities to maximize performance while minimizing cost and weight. Responsible hardware includes bearing and bearing compartments, transmissions and gearboxes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring & proficiency mentorship to the Mechanical Design team.

  • Guide designers and IPT’s to ensure task ticket scope and engineering approach are aligned with customer intent, funding, schedule, and task requirements.

  • Ensure teams are appropriately staffed to meet CIPT Design Deliverables

  • Provide clear communication on task priority and deliverables while balancing customer needs

  • Strong leadership skills to drive organizational change using CORE tools including standard work, turnback tracking, and other continuous improvement tools.

  • Chair Module and Design Reviews per the Product Design Review Process

  • Up to 10% travel

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • 10+ years of Mechanical Design or Aerospace engineering experience, OR an Advanced Degree in a related field with 7+ years of experience

  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.

  • Candidate must be self-motivated, focused on results, possess strong business judgment and be able to develop talent.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, and consistent record of collaboration, flexibility, innovation, and initiative.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully plan design tasks and lead design teams to execute tasks on-time and within budget

  • Proven ability to work innovatively and collaboratively with subordinates, suppliers, peers, and customers to overcome technical and program challenges

  • Experience with Externals hardware including tubes, brackets, mounts, and harness design along with component placement allocation. Systems integration preferred.

  • Familiarity with the AGILE methodology.
