Battery Center Technician

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a talented Battery Technician to support the Battery Center strategy in repairing packs, modules and HV material to support our brand journey into electrification. This position is responsible for the analysis, repair, remanufacturing and building of high-voltage batteries at the US Volvo Battery Center. This individual will travel internationally and domestically for training, meetings, and collaboration with other teams within VCC. This individual will be responsible for executing the battery repair process for multiple variants of battery packs and variable production rates to effectively support the market. This position willreport to the on-site Battery Center Manager and the Head of US Battery Lifecycles Services.

A Day in the life:

  • Conducting fault tracing and analysis on incoming material (battery packs, modules, etc.) from the retailer workshops. Inclusive of PHEV and BEV batteries from Volvo Cars and other defined OEMs. Repair according to given instructions and methods to deliver quality assured batteries are sent to our customers. Assist in building and manufacturing process for new complete batteries following VCSBs manufacturing structure.
  • Apply lean way of working, striving to reduce time and cost for produced products, out of our Volvo US Battery Center. Follow instructions provided for procedures and methods for high voltage battery repairs, under the direction of the Battery Center Manager.
  • Supporting Battery Center and Market Neutralization process. This technician will specialize in neutralization functions and will own the process & operations of market repairs for return to the BC.
  • Collaborate in cross-functional teams with Battery Centers within US VCSB.
  • Review any repair issues or concerns with the Battery Center Mgr & Sr. Battery Technician.
  • Conduct further analysis when collaboration is needed with CMQ/R&D.

What you will bring to Volvo:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, electrical engineering (or related field/training) or 5+ years proven equivalent work experience.
  • 1+ years of experience in an electrical position, internship or experience – Electrician, Electrical Engineer, Battery Technology, High Voltage Technician or related experience.
  • General knowledge on electric vehicles and an ability to interact with our technical team regarding repair methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code, state and local requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Power Point and Excel skills.
  • Must be willing to travel domestically and internationally. Internationally for multiple weeks at a time for training purposes. (Approximately 35%)

You might also have…

  • 2+ years of experience in an EV service role, from diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage batteries.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written presentation, and communication skills.
  • An ability to work with complex topics and steer discussion at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Ability to drive change and influence people & synthesize complex topics into easy-to-understand terms.
