Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) 737 Systems Engineering has an exciting opportunity for a Environmental Control System Design and Analysis Engineer role in Renton, WA supporting exciting and interesting engineering projects from in-development through in-service for the cabin pressure control system, cabin altitude warning system, cabin air conditioning temperature control system, and nitrogen generation system.

Our team is currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Associate and Experienced Level Industrial Engineers.

Position Overview:

We are looking for an innovative engineer who wants to perform interesting, challenging, and dynamic work as a member of the BCA 737 Environmental Control Systems High Pressure Analysis Team. 

Our team is responsible for the certification, in-production analysis, and in-service analysis of the cabin pressure control system (CPCS) , cabin air conditioning temperature control system (CACTCS) , and nitrogen generation system (NGS). 

This role will specifically support several Service Related Problems (SRPs) where the candidate will have the chance to dive into the performance of a specific ECS system or component and investigate and improve the in-service performance.  The candidate will also have the awesome opportunity to be a part of certification of the 737-10, helping to bring a new airplane program into service.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work within the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA), 737 Environmental Control Systems (ECS) organization to develop, produce, deliver and support customers who fly Boeing airplanes with their cabin pressure control system (CPCS), cabin altitude warning system (CAWS), cabin air conditioning temperature control system (CACTCS) , and nitrogen generation system (NGS).
  • Enable high aircraft performance while operating in compliance with regulatory (FAA, EASA, etc) requirements.
  • Exercise strong project management skills to independently execute a variety of projects to completion.
  • Investigate hands-on and through software tools the root causes of problems faced both during development and in-service by our customers who use our products.  Develop corrective action plans, design engineering testing, and analyze data to solve complex problems with CPCS, CAWS, CACTCS, and NGS.
  • Collaborate with other organizations such as Fleet Chief Office, Service Engineering, Flight Deck Crew Operations, Pilots, Electrical Systems, Systems Stress, Airline Customers, Factory and Flight Line Operations, Supply Chain, Airplane Safety and many others.
  • Work directly with the primary suppliers who provide entire systems and components CPCS, CAWS, CACTCS, and NGS for our airplane.  This work includes resolving a variety of issues and leading improvement programs.
  • Learn about legacy development processes and certification Methods of Compliance while actively helping transition Boeing to leverage Model-Based Engineering (MBE)/Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodology to write requirements, architect/size/validate/verify conceptual systems.

Work Authorization:

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ Years Engineering Analysis experience
  • Experience with airplane Environmental Control Systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired):

  • Experience providing hands-on engineering support of an in-service airplane, such as an engineering role at an MRO or airline
  • Experience with the process of developing, validating, and verifying system requirements
  • Experience with Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) software
  • Working knowledge and experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)

Typical Education/Experience:

Experienced (Level 3): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 4): Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range:

Experienced (level 3): $84,000 – $150,000

Experienced (level 4): $103,000 – $183,000
