This position is available starting in May 2024 or later. Selected candidates must be available and have met all offer contingencies to begin working with an expected start date ranging from May 2024 through October 2024.

Raytheon’s California Materials and Process Engineering group needs a full-time Materials Engineer to work onsite in the Materials Characterization and Analysis Labs in El Segundo, CA. The successful candidate will operate lab equipment to evaluate and characterize metals, polymers, adhesives, coatings, and other materials. They will also prepare reports, develop specifications, formulate materials like adhesives and resins, and investigate process improvements.

This position is an onsite role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Operate lab equipment for mechanical, chemical, and other tests..
  • Analyze data and prepare reports.
  • Develop material specifications.
  • Formulate and evaluate polymeric materials.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to quality and safety procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Materials Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • Experience with lab equipment operation and data analysis.
  • Attention to quality and safety protocols.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on materials testing experience.
  • Understanding of polymers, metals, adhesives and other materials.
  • Familiarity with analytical instrumentation.
  • Requires theoretical knowledge typically obtained through University Degree. Limited to some knowledge of RTX organization.
  • Attention to quality and safety protocols.

The salary range for this role is 57,000 USD - 107,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
