With a history of over 60 years, the Manufacturing/Stamping department support the launch for all JLR sites in the UK and globally using a mix of tools and technologies.

 

As a Tooling Maintenance Manager, you’ll report directly into Stamping Manufacturing Manager and support the team on the delivery of day-to-day business requirements such as quality targets, KPI’s within Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People and Environment.  

 

Please note that this role is day shifts and will be based on site.

    

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

In this role, you’ll lead the performance of the Toolroom team to make sure the targets are achieved and manage all activities to develop the team ensuring every employee has access to the Learning and Development, Motivation and Communication required to deliver the Business Plan objectives. 

  • Responsible for managing a skilled Press Toolroom including the control and organisation of all Tooling activities and associated Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Morale and Environment metrics are achieved. 
  • To consistently deliver Safety standards by ensuring all safety metrics are achieved, risks identified and mitigated, and corrective action implemented for any accidents.
  • Contribute to the development of the operational and strategic plans to improve the current tooling, facility and stamping processes.
  • Contribute to the management of the cost budget and continually seek efficiencies.
  • Ensure Integrated Production System, Manufacturing Quality Operating Standard and Launch Quality Operating System processes are adhered to.
  • Support of launch activities of all press tooling from process conception through to final die buy off and Home Line commissioning.
  • Work as part of a Cross Functional team with Maintenance, Production, Quality and Process Engineering.
  • Work cooperatively with Trade Union.
  • Work collaboratively within Stamping Group Technology Forum.
  • Develop and support Stamping Engineering relationship to achieve engineering change and improvement plan and future die manufacturing projects.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Relevant previous experience at leadership level demonstrating delivery of productivity targets in Manufacturing.
  • Experience in Press tooling in a high-volume stamping environment. 
  • Thorough understanding of Engineering/Manufacturing Processes, Tools and Techniques.
  • Demonstrable and experience in the application of a logical approach to Problem Solving.
  • Proven ability to work within tight deadlines & be able to manage and prioritise multiple activities simultaneously.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Health and Safety Audits, ergonomics and risk assessments in an engineering workshop environment.
