As a Diagnostic Service Calibration Engineer within the Diagnostic Coordination and Services Calibration Chapter, you will be responsible for the development of diagnostics and their integration with the service and manufacturing environments. The team are responsible for ensuring all diagnostic and service routines owned by various functions are implemented with high quality, in a manner which ensures vehicles are built correctly and faults can be pinpointed to the minimal replaceable unit. The team have a direct influence on vehicle quality and the cost and ease of repairing systems.

 

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Collaborating with tier 1 suppliers and internal test teams to ensure the systems meet diagnostic communications requirements

  • Ensuring all functional diagnostics elements are meticulously documented in the JLR functional diagnostics tool (D3M), including DTCs, DIDs, Routines, Services, Diagnostic Variant information, and snapshot data

  • Developing diagnostics routines that align with manufacturing and service requirements in collaboration with suppliers, JLR service, and EOL manufacturing teams

  • Supporting Failure Mode Avoidance activities by identifying new diagnostics requirements based on DFMEAs, FFAs, or safety concepts

  • Reviewing diagnostic object test results and managing the resolution of bugs and defects

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

 

  • Working knowledge of Unified Diagnostic Service (UDS), Open Diagnostics data Exchange (ODX), and Open Test data Exchange (OTX) formats

  • Experience with automotive communication protocols and hardware (Flexray, CAN, CAN-FD, LIN)

  • Proficiency in ETAS / Vector tools usage

  • Experience in writing and maintaining requirements for diagnostics for real-time embedded systems
