Sustainability Regulation and Reporting Section Manager (AMIEO)

In this critical role, you will work across our entire AMIEO region to help wide ranging business functions to develop and embed the sustainability agenda and reporting requirements into business as usual - shaping ESG strategic direction, and supporting business stakeholders at all levels.  In a fast-paced and ever-changing regulatory landscape, you will be at the forefront of monitoring developments in sustainability regulation and reporting and supporting to ensure that requirements are embedded across the business. Achieving sustainability reporting commitments and compliance in line with the CSRD and beyond.

Your Responsibilities

  • You will play both a strategic and tactical role in driving forward our sustainability reporting activities - identifying and managing sustainability risk facing the business
  • You will carry out sustainability regulatory horizon scanning to identify emerging regulatory and reporting requirements & trends, before defining and notifying the business of the risk, communicating with stakeholders and providing recommendations for action where necessary
  • You will support lead functions in the production and publication of disclosures, ensuring relevant feedback and approvals prior to publication and embedding new requirements into the business where needed.
  • Using both internal and external resources, you will help shape our sustainability agenda & reporting processes to comprehensively identify regulatory trends and ensure sustainability reporting compliance
  • You will support ESG initiatives across the business, working closely with key departments to ensure a collaborative approach
  • Working in a fast-paced environment, you will play a critical role in identifying, analysing and reporting on sustainability performance throughout the business, preparing reports and protocols before disseminating these to business stakeholders and executives for active decision-making
  • Your role will involve regular liaison with both regional and global counterparts to ensure alignment on regulation and reporting understanding, as well as the business sustainability reporting strategy
  • You will enjoy the diversity and visibility of working across multiple countries, using your understanding of legislation and building relationships with cross-functional teams in a dynamic work environment
  • Your role will also entail dealing with internal and external business queries relating to sustainability regulation and reporting
  • As needed, you will engage third parties to support reporting and sustainability regulation activity (e.g. Professional associations, Legal / External and Governmental Affairs, consultants)
  • Your working routine offers a blend of WFH and office-based presence in a small, tight-knit team, liaising with functions, stakeholders and the wider sustainability team across the entire region, with a light amount of travel required.  You must be ready and able to work in the beautiful North East of England for minimum 3 days per week at our Nissan Sunderland plant.  A relocation package is available for the right person. 

Your Profile

  • You will already have a strong background in sustainability reporting, with proven understanding of the regulation and legislation within this specialised area, built through 5+ yrs’ corporate and/or consultative experience ideally within a large, multi-national business environment. 
  • Your academic credentials should include a bachelor’s or master’s degree in sustainability, governmental affairs, compliance, business, law or similar ESG-related discipline
  • You will come with an excellent working knowledge of current sustainability reporting and disclosure requirements and trends – even better if this is gained within a manufacturing and/or automotive environment
  • Your ability to collect, absorb and interpret complex sets of data and regulation will be undoubted, as well as the skillset to translate this into actionable insights and recommendations for varying audiences
  • You will be completely at ease working autonomously with international and a wide range of stakeholders, showcasing your ability to influence at all levels, with a mindset for collaboration, diversity and inclusivity
  • Your understanding of the sustainability regulation & reporting regulatory frameworks                     will extend across multiple regions such as Europe, UK, India, Africa, Middle East and Oceania
  • Your powerful and clear communication skills will ensure dealings with stakeholders are highly effective, motivating others to engage and collaborate to achieve sustainability aims and ambitions
  • Your curious nature will be comfortable in uncertain landscapes with frequent changes, where you have to react and adapt quickly across multiple territories.
