This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to [Cole Engineering Center Warren, Michigan ] three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business]

The GPSC Business Intelligence team supports critical business operations and decision-making through creation of high quality, user-friendly dashboards, leverages data modeling and analysis techniques to create new organizational capabilities and supports production operations through data discovery for risk mitigation and business action. We have a significant stake in delivering innovative analytic capability to the business organization and we need a visionary leader to design data strategies aligned to business objectives and to create the success enablers for a high-functioning team of talented data analysts.

The supervisor plays a crucial role in driving the success of our Business Intelligence organization, ensuring the delivery of high-quality insights and supporting the organization's data-driven decision-making processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Leadership and Team Management:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the team of data analysts.

  • Set clear expectations, goals, and objectives for the CCA/Warranty Performance BI team.

  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.

  • Coach and mentor team members to enhance their skills and professional development.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

Project Management:

  • Coordinate and prioritize projects and assignments for the team.

  • Ensure that projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards.

  • Monitor progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

  • Identify and address any issues or obstacles that may impact project success.

  • Collaborate with other supervisors and stakeholders to align priorities and resources.

Strategy and Planning:

  • Work closely with CCA and Warranty Performance business stakeholders and IT to understand their data analytics needs and requirements.

  • Contribute to the development of the overall data analytics strategy and roadmap, including the integration of CCA/WP with Direct Material for data management, analytics, and governance.

  • Provide input and recommendations on tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance data analysis capabilities.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the team.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster strong relationships with business stakeholders, IT teams, and other relevant departments.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and integration of data analytics initiatives.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their data analysis needs and provide updates on project progress.

  • Present findings, insights, and recommendations to business leaders in a clear and concise manner.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of data analysis outputs.

  • Collaborate with data governance team to establish and enforce data governance and quality standards.

  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in data analytics

Additional Job Description

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors Degree Required : Preferably in Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering or Operations Management

  • Co-op experience, internship, or minimum five years’ work experience in a related field preferred

  • Minimum 5 years relevant work experience in business intelligence, data, computer science, IT, or business analytics in a supply chain-related business function.

  • Extensive knowledge of General Motors’ GPSC CCA and Warranty Performance domain, data, systems, and databases.

  • Demonstratable ability to work cross-functionally and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Experience mentoring team members, identifying team strengths and weaknesses, developing, and implementing plans to raise the team performance.

  • Comfortable working complex problems with urgency, prioritizing assignments/projects with end users in mind.

  • Demonstrable ability to apply analytics mindset and technologies to strategic business problems.

  • Self-starter with the ability to influence others, working in teams and independently with customers, cohorts, and stakeholders across many different physical locations.

  • Demonstrable ability to define customer/stakeholder needs and priorities and to balance team resources, deliverables, and timelines accordingly to meet customer expectations.

  • Ability to define and propose innovative solutions to business problems and projects that may begin with ambiguous requirements and requests.

  • Ability to communicate complex concepts in simple, visual terms suitable to a wide cross-section of audiences (data storytelling).

  • Proactive and effective project management and communication skills to provide project status, progress on deliverables and risks/issues to stakeholders.

  • Excellent knowledge of and demonstrated experience with SQL, VBA, or Python coding

  • Technical proficiency working with analytic platforms (Tableau, or Microsoft BI), databases and reporting tools

  • Experience with databases and data warehousing platforms preferably in (MS Access, SQL Server and Developer, Oracle, etc.)

  • Practical knowledge of basic statistical and mathematical tools for problem solving and data analysis.
