Job Summary:
We are seeking a Systems Engineer for shift satellite Operations and Maintenance (O&M) as part of a team that performs and provides support of satellite operations activities, providing enterprise-wide systems engineering support. The selected candidate will join a skilled O&M team working in a 24/7 operations environment. As such availability for non-scheduled call-in is required and the job assignment requires working a combination of day staff and shift schedules, assigned based on the adaptable needs of the team. The O&M team is responsible for all aspects of Operations Planning and Command and Control, including monitoring day-to-day activities as well as identifying and solving challenging problems as they occur. After completion of comprehensive on-the-job training, the candidate will be a part of a certified team of subject matter authorities that are integral to our customer’s results.
Job Location: This position is an onsite role – Near Springfield, VA

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Develop and or implement a daily operations plan using complex software and hardware systems to satisfy customer requirements
-
Obtain/maintain technical knowledge of a large repository of formal procedures with the responsibility to accurately select and apply the correct procedure(s) depending on the specific scenario; obtain/apply technical knowledge on various hardware systems
-
Report and document anomalous performance and interact with other team members to validate operational requirements performance
-
Contribute to the testing, readiness, training and implementation of new ground software deliveries
-
Cross-train in other operational positions as assigned and assist with the training of other personnel on the contract team
-
Support test activities as necessary
-
Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
-
Typically requires a bachelor’s in science, Technology, Engineering – Aerospace, Systems, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of five years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

Must be able to apply critical thinking toward problem-solving in time-critical situations

Must work effectively in a diverse team environment

Must have demonstrated experience managing small projects

Must have the ability to work with minimal supervision and oversight

Must have leadership/supervisory experience with the demonstrated ability to achieve day to day goals

Must have the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts and make sure to promote other perks of this job. on a regular basis

Must have an active and in-scope TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working a rotating shift schedule

Experience providing/receiving training to/from a wide range of learning techniques and styles

Experience working in a virtual environment

Proficient use of both Windows and Unix platforms

Experience with Perl, Python, VBA and or other scripting languages

Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
