Job Summary:

  • Work on Customer programs where the lifecycle of data needs to be addressed and an overall data platform or capability needs to be integrated with an overall technical solution including leading design, prototyping, and pilot implementation as well as estimation of lifecycle solution scope and cost elements.
  • Help mature and further develop a Data Fabric/Mesh to modernize and transform US Govt program networks.
  • Work autonomously with limited oversight from manager.
  • Provide input or guidance to junior team members.

This position is an onsite role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Advanced knowledge of Database and Data Management fundamentals, with specific knowledge of Data Fabric, or Data Mesh architectures.
  • Experience must include SQL, REST, and other industry standard interfaces.
  • Identify and recommend open-source technologies as appropriate.
  • Write and test code for implementation in collaboration with the implementation team; may review pull-requests before merges with main.
  • Participate in agile sprints to support the execution of data management and data cataloging activities leading to improvements in the Data Fabric that supports operational requirements even in conditions of network degradation.
  • Implement the on-going technical solutions for data movement across operational networks.
  • Ensure compliance to current modular, open and distributed architecture.
  • Recommend architecture enhancements as Customer operational requirements change.
  • Demonstrate the system to internal stakeholders.
  • Help team conduct proof-of-concept validations with Customers.
  • Coordinate with partners to ensure their modules interoperate as expected.
  • Communicates with parties within and outside of the project.
  • Successfully implement the recommended data architecture for given use cases.
  • May manage small projects or processes within area of responsibility.
  • Solve general problems that are sometimes complex, drawing on prior experience and analysis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Requires a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience.
  • Data Fabric/Mesh advanced knowledge or other data implementation experience.
  • Experience with software development for distributed computing.
  • Experience writing unit tests.
  • Experience with agile software development practices.
  • Experience with containers, Linux terminal, and Git version control.
  • Knowledge and skill in at least one language (Python, Scala, Java, Go lang, etc.)
  • Experience designing and implementing APIs.
  • Experience designing and implementing Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) and Microservices.
  • Experience and knowledge working with AWS and/or Azure.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex, technical information in an understandable manner.
  • Ability to logically troubleshoot issues, determine root causes, and present suggested solutions clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to handle competing priorities flexibly and address each in an effective and timely manner in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Keep pace with, or even establishing, the state of the art in software development.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. government issued security clearance is required. Citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in a related STEM field and minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • Strong software architecture experience, particularly for cloud and other distributed environments.
  • Experience with software architecture patterns.
  • Experience with scalable messaging systems like Kafka.
  • Experience designing and implementing code for disconnected, intermittent, and low bandwidth (DIL) environments.
  • Experience with Chaos Engineering and Performance, Scalability, and Resilience (PSR) Testing.
  • Experience with US Federal, and DoD contracting.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new languages.
  • Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Git, Atlassian Suite, Open Source, various languages (Java, Python, etc.)
  • Current/active TS/SCI clearance.

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
