Role Overview
RTX is seeking an experience dynamic, hardworking Network Architect to promote the sharing of ideas. The ideal candidate will communicate effectively with a range of audiences, technical and non-technical, and will function effectively on an engineering team to create a collaborative and inclusive environment that allows for the establishment of mission goals, itemized planning of tasks, and prioritization of tasks that drives the efficient execution of objectives.
Responsibilities
-
Architect, design and implement local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) to deliver shared services across the RTX business.

Balance key system parameters in all designs: security, performance, availability, supportability, cost, etc.

Continuously perform research and recommend network and data communications hardware and software through. vendor engagements, product evaluations, trade studies, etc.

Mentor team members and drive a culture of modernization related to software-defined networking, automation, the application of DevOps principals including configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, etc.
Basic Qualifications
-
In-depth experience in LAN/WAN switching and routing: IP, Ethernet, dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
-
In-depth experience with SD-WAN / DMVPN technologies, NAT and Layer 2-3 encryption technologies (MACsec, IPSec)
-
UDP multicast, MSPP, VPN, VLANs, GRE Tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs.

Demonstrate experience with scalable overlay/underlay datacenter architectures (Cisco ACI, VMware NSX, VXLAN-EVPN-BGP)
-
Knowledge of commercial cloud environments (AWS, Azure, etc) and underlying network constructs (virtual networks, transit gateways, load balancers, etc)

Experience with network monitoring protocols and tooling: SNMP, NetFlow, Solarwinds, PRTG, etc
-
Experience with network automation tooling: Ansible, Python or similar platforms

Ability to deliver solutions in compliance with strict US Government compliance regimes (Cyber DFARS, NIST 800 series, etc)
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience with AWS GovCloud and Microsoft Azure for Government IL-2, 4, 5 and air-gap cloud regions

Cisco Unified Communications (CUCM, CMS)
-
Understand commercial encryption standards and their application in IP networking

Knowledge of NSA Type 1 encryption and Commercial Solutions for Crypto (CSfC) solutions

Knowledge of Storage Area Network (SAN) technology
-
Linux System Administration skills
-
An understanding of EAP-TLS certificate-based encryption, RADIUS authentication and/or 802.1X network access control technologies

Certifications such as CCNP, CCNA, CCIE, CISSP
Education
-
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience

Eight (8) years of experience can be considered in lieu of a degree for a total of sixteen (16) years of experience

Work Authorization: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
