Job Summary:
The Mechanical Engineering group in the Shipboard Effectors Department is currently searching for experienced Sr Mechanical Engineers to work on a multi-discipline team to support the production of Shipboard Effectors products and subsystems located in Huntsville, AL. This is a hybrid role which provides the flexibility of working remote though regular onsite support is required. These positions require strong communication skills to collaborate across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality. Experience with hardware integration and test, supplier first article inspections, production work instructions and failure investigation principals are strongly desired.
Responsibilities may include concept development, detailed design, analysis, integration and test, support of transition to production efforts, and product improvement. Additional duties may include factory production line support in the areas of root cause and corrective action and problem resolution at various suppliers. Candidate will work closely with Integrated Product Team Leads/Program Managers to ensure that engineering requirements are defined, risks are managed, and schedules/budgets are met. Candidate will ensure Technical Data Packages are maintained and updated as necessary. Decisions must be data driven in nature and require preparing technical justification analysis reports as well as presenting to a variety of Engineering Review Boards.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
Five (5) years of directly related work experience in mechanical design and design documentation
Proficient in 3D CAD tools (modeling and drawing)
Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) per ANSI Y14.5
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required.
Qualifications We Value:
Six (6) years of professional experience related to mechanical design and documentation in Aerospace & Defense industry
Advanced degree in Engineering discipline
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written
Ability to work in teams or independently and demonstrates initiative
Experience in mechanical sub-systems packaging, materials, thermal, structural analysis, energetics principles, control systems, interconnect, airframe, or large assembly development
Willingness to support tasks relative to both design development and production support
Proficient in Creo (modeling and drawing) and Windchill (PDM)
Ability to travel to government and other facilities in support of program activities
Active DoD issued security clearance

Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have practical knowledge of project
management. Practical to substantial knowledge of RTX projects, programs or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
Typically requires:
A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
Engineering/Other Technical Positions:
Typically requires a degree in Science,Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
