Position Overview:
Raytheon provides end-to-end space solutions – from ground control systems to on-orbit sensors – to keep our customers informed and ahead of the threat. Each day, ground stations receive vast amounts of data from satellites in orbit. Using complex algorithms, they process all of the bits and bytes received and turn them into useable information for the end users who consume this data. As the volume of data grows, ground stations need to evolve and adapt.
You'll have the opportunity to use your understanding of software principles, theories, and concepts related to software engineering (including software development lifecycle and software development process), design patterns, and Object Oriented architecture. The candidate must also demonstrate critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas well.
We are seeking software engineering professionals to work onsite in our Aurora, CO location to join our world-class engineering team.
Clearance / Citizenship Requirements:
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- 5-8 years of progressive technical (hands-on) experience related to Software Engineering, development, and implementation
- Minimum 3 years experience with object-oriented software development using Java in a Linux and Windows environment.
- Minimum 1 year of experience with unit test and automated functional test concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience programming in C++ and Python
- Experience using software tools such as Eclipse, Junit, Confluence, Jenkins, ClearQuest, ClearCase, Jira, and Git
- Experience with DevOps practices and resources
- Experience with an area of satellite ground system software

The salary range for this role is 75,000 USD - 161,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
