Senior Electrical Engineer (Hybrid)

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer? Our Electric Power Systems business unit has an opportunity for a Reliability, Maintainability and System Safety (RM&S) Engineer.

As an RM&S Engineer you will provide Electrical Reliability/Maintainability/System Safety/Testability analyses and design guidance for electronic controls and electrical power generation, distribution, emergency and auxiliary power, and load management systems on a variety of aircraft platforms.

This position requires a candidate with initiative, resourcefulness, project engineering skills, excellent written and oral communication capability, and the willingness to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment, as well as management and customers.

Hybrid:

  • Report onsite weekly (2-3 days per week average)

  • Must be a commutable distance from Rockford, Illinois to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed.

  • 10% domestic travel required.

  • This role is eligible for relocation, when qualified.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyses to include Failure Modes and Effect (Criticality) Analysis (FMEA/FMECA) from the component and the functional levels, System Safety, System Hazards, Fault Tree, Maintainability Tasks, Reliability Predictions, and Testability analyses.

  • Provide technical support to the Design Engineering, product Support Engineering and Marketing organizations in both concurrent product development and mature product support environments.

  • Provide technical and project leadership for RM&S support on programs.

  • Investigate and perform improvements on current standard processes to improve efficiency and quality of analytics.

Qualifications/Experience Needed: 

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience. 

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical preferred.

  • Minimum 3 Years of experience in aerospace industry; with focus in Power Generation and Distribution, preferred.

  • Experience in Analog and Digital Circuit Design Analysis and/or Mechanical Design Analysis.

  • Experience with common spreadsheet, database, and work processing applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access preferred.

  • Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner and produce effective, clear, and concise technical documentation.

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Be able to multi-task and manage tasks through unexpected events.
