Purchasing Operations Supervisor

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting comprehensive Purchasing Operations for Purchasing Direct activities, ensuring efficiency, analyzing data, and providing actionable insights to support business decisions. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. This role involves managing staff, coordinating schedules, and handling administrative tasks to maintain smooth workflow to achieve overall goals.

Job Responsibilities

  • Centralized Procurement Management: Oversee the end-to-end procurement processes across multiple manufacturing sites from a centralized shared service center to ensure standardization and efficiency across locations.
  • Process Standardization and Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to standardize purchasing processes across the SSC to create a consistent and efficient workflow. This includes implementing best practices in procurement, identifying automation opportunities, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Data-Driven Decision Making and Reporting: Use data analytics to drive purchasing decisions, forecast trends, and report on key metrics such as cost savings, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Create and distribute regular performance reports to provide insights to SSC management and stakeholders.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration with Purchasing Manufacturing Teams: Collaborate to ensure alignment between procurement and production needs. By proactively aligning with these departments, the purchasing supervisor helps streamline processes, reduce lead times, and maintain optimal inventory levels across manufacturing sites.

  • Experience with process improvement methodologies, such as Lean or Six Sigma, to drive efficiency and streamline operations in the SSC.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including inventory control, materials planning, and quality standards.
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience in data analysis, forecasting, and using metrics to drive purchasing decisions. Familiarity with data analysis tools (i.e. Excel, Power BI, Tableau or SAP).
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively across departments, including manufacturing, quality control, finance, and supply chain teams. Strong leadership and people management skills to motivate and develop the purchasing team in a shared service environment.

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, with a focus on manufacturing environments. Prior experience in a Shared Service Center or centralized procurement environment is highly desirable.
  • 2 to 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in international Affairs, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Language: English TOEIC up to 700 pts or C1 / Fluent Spanish.

Specific Course/Certifications

  • Computer Skills: Office 365 Suite, SAP ERP, Pivot Tables, Desirable: Tableau.
