We are seeking a Junior Engineer in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC)/Amp/System Test to join our Farmington Hills, MI team.

This Engineer will work under the supervision of the HVAC Manager and Senior Performance Engineers to ensure the functionality of HVAC electronic hardware and software, system integration, and vehicle-level evaluation activities. The individual will be part of a highly collaborative team of HVAC Technicians, Engineers, and related R&D groups to execute project work. The engineering role includes office work and vehicle evaluation activities in various locations, including the Laboratory; Nissan Technical Center North America (NTCNA), Smyrna, Canton, AZ, Nissan Technical Center NTC), Climatic Wind Tunnel, and on-road locations for test trips.

A Day in the Life:

  • Conduct vehicle and Electronic Integrated Platform (EIPF-level HVAC/Thermal testing and evaluation).

  • Validate HVAC system-level software, including connected and Artificial Intelligence and Visual Inspection (AIVI) integration.

  • Plan test vehicles and estimate workloads for all projects.

  • Organize and store test procedures and results.

  • Create reports and present findings to management.

  • Report on project milestones and prepare materials as needed.

  • Plan test equipment requirements.

  • Understand electrical schematics, software specifications, and flow charts.

  • Manage and support HVAC calibrations, understanding their impact on system behavior.

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Preferred experience with automotive HVAC electronics or other automotive electronic modules.

  • Knowledge of Controller Area Network (CAN), Local Interconnect Network (LIN), communication, and automotive software.

  • Willingness to learn CANalyzer and CANape.

  • Proficient in-vehicle troubleshooting using an oscilloscope and meter and able to read electrical schematics.

  • Ability to read and interpret software and MATLAB specifications.

  • Possession of a valid driver's license.

  • Willingness to complete driver’s training at Arizona Technical Center (ATC) for test trips.

Minimum Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 2+ years of directly related professional-level engineering experience in automotive systems or electronic component engineering design or testing.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Physical Requirements:

Travel:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

  • Up to 15% domestic and international travel, including trips to Arizona, Smyrna, and Canton, with potential travel to Japan, Mexico, or other international locations.

Overtime:

  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary to complete the job.

  • Frequent late evening meetings with Japan, occurring 1-2 times per week with occasional fluctuations.
