Program Chief Engineer --- Inertial Systems Cheshire, CT

General responsibilities of the role:

  • Supports the Value Stream and Business Development teams in Cheshire.
  • Is responsible for the technical customer interface working with US-based customers to understand their needs.
  • Is responsible for generating solutions for the customers and engaging with them is any development program support activities.
  • Will drive the local engineering team to meet customer needs.
  • Work with the UK engineering team to develop solutions where needed.

Specific responsibilities of the role:

Overall ownership over technical challenges

  • Executive escalation
  • Communication with safety board
  • Approval on next steps
  • Reporting

Customer communications

  • Manages engineering relationship with customer base
  • Engagement as required

Change Control Board

  • Ability to schedule a board
  • Sign off for CCB

Strategic engineering initiative ownership

  • Support in planning annual CFE budgets
  • Management of Engineering input to the S&FP
  • Attendance at critical conferences
  • Generation of product roadmap
  • Maintenance of legacy product evolution
  • Expand Cheshire MEMS portfolio

Location and Reporting

  • This role needs to be a US-based-employ role due to the sensitivities required during customer interactions and discussions
  • This role reports into the Inertial Systems Engineering Director (Dr Andy Court)

Qualifications / Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 16 years of relevant experience
  • Experience and familiarity working w/ Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs)
  • Previous experience working with Business Development and Value Stream teams to develop customer proposals
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
  • The ability to obtain a US DoD Security Clearance
