Raytheon Intelligence & Space, Vision Systems (RVS) Test Engineering & Integration Group has upcoming opportunities for an experienced Senior Test Engineer with expertise in airborne electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) surveillance and targeting sensor systems.

  • Successful applicants will have a technical background in STEM science, optical systems, or physics and are able to effectively communicate and work within multi–disciplinary teams.

  • Experience should include hardware experience of; conducting tests with associated tasks of performance test analysis, test planning, verification and validation testing.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for working within a multi-disciplinary engineering team through support of planning, development of optical/EM/and trade studies, performance analysis, execution, procurement, supporting an engineering build, collaboration with operations and manufacturing teams, integration, verification and validation testing to support delivery of a new EO/IR Sensor Systems.

This position is located in Goleta, CA.  Relocation assistance is available provided the final candidate meets eligibility requirements.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 8 years of test or systems engineering experience to include airborne and, or space EOIR system test, integration verification and validation testing, product transition to production or relatable experience.

  • Experience performing and executing test methodology within an E/O system.

  • Experience in test methodology within sensors to include optical performance, analysis, and test verification for EO/IR sensor systems and/or relatable experience in development and production program.

  • Experience with requirements test development, test analysis, derivations, verification and test validation.

  • Experience developing and, or executing factory test plans, procedures, and equipment to support an EO/IR sensor system or relatable system.

  • Analytical capabilities, or an ability to relate observed phenomenon back to first principals

  • Experience IV&V activities within team environment.

  • Ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams of program management and system design, electrical, mechanical, software and logistics engineers.

  • Requires excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and be able to effectively communicate with Test Management, IPT leaders, hardware and software development engineers, specialty engineers, program managers, and customers.

  • Experience supporting and/or conducting technical supplier evaluations for incorporating new methods of test and development.

  • Experience working within a structured Systems Engineering process environment including a task-oriented, value-based management system and tracking to metrics such as EVM.

  • Production experience in commercial and/or defense industries; production support, troubleshooting, and factory improvement initiatives.

  • Prior experience with ROIC wafer probing, fabrication, integration, verification, and validation for a complex EO/IR system.

  • IPTL or related experience.

  • Experience with FEA or FEM analysis.

  • Experience with basic scripting and/or software development (MATLAB, C++/C# preferred)

  • Experience with LabView control of laboratory equipment and operation of sensors

  • Publication and, or presentation of E/O related research in a peer-reviewed journal and, or conference

  • An active US security clearance is required or ability to obtain and maintain one.  U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Required Education (including Major):

  • STEM undergraduate 4 year program from an accredited program
