Missions Systems Test Engineering SME team is seeking to fill a Principal Systems Test Engineer position. The primary responsibility for this position is to lead, develop, and sustain acceptance test solutions in support of multiple products and programs.
As an SME, you will be responsible for mentoring and guiding various test engineering teams throughout Mission Systems in either leading or reviewing test engineering projects. This position will be the technical lead on the hardware and software development and debug skills on multi-rack test stations. These test stations include but are not limited by the following COTs equipment: oscilloscopes, DMM's, logic analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and optical measurement systems. This position will develop and support of design documentation, such as test procedures, equipment specifications, and management of technical requirements.
This position is in a collaborative, onsite environment in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understanding of Collins Aerospace processes/tools (documentation (PDM/Enovia), SCL, IMPACT, SAP, ALM)
- Reverse engineering existing equipment (i.e. documenting something that is already built)
- Bidding project activities
- Identifying, categorizing, and averting project risks (risk management)
- Controlling changes to the project scope and baseline
- Reviewing, designing, and implementing activities required to deploy the project test solutions to world-wide destinations
- Preparing and presenting project / technical information to peers, internal management, and customers
- Coordinating several projects and complex engineering activities while balancing priorities and schedules
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
- Experience interacting with product design teams to capture and create test requirements for various levels of factory test.
- Proven experience with performing tasks unsupervised, multitasking and delegating work to support technicians, EPA's and peers.
- Experience in successfully taking test solutions and programs from development to deployment
- Previous experience in managing small teams through hardware builds (parts ordering, build coordination, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in coding C# and Python
- Bachelor of Science Systems Engineering, Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering, Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or Computer Science degree preferred
