Job Summary:
Raytheon is seeking motivated Principal System Engineers for classified Programs. In this role, you will work with an amazing team of talented System and Software Engineers who are leading the industry in ground system solutions. These Programs provide development, integration, operations and sustainment for next generation, cutting-edge satellite ground software. As the Principal Systems Engineer you will provide technical direction and clarification of requirements to software development teams & test personnel, perform system engineering analyses including trade studies, algorithm development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. In addition, as the Principal Systems Engineer you will support definition of operations concepts and procedure planning / development, interface with personnel from other organizations, and represent the program at technical interchange meetings. You will also participate in daily program scrum meetings and provide status on assigned Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) tasks. This position is for Richardson, Texas.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Developing and maintaining Requirements, Algorithm Description Documents and User Manuals

Performing functional decomposition of requirements to meet system and domain level needs
-
Participating in system engineering artifact reviews
-
Conducting performance analyses, risk analyses, and trade studies
-
Defining external and internal interfaces
-
Managing and maintaining assigned documents in accordance with established systems engineering and configuration management procedures
-
Providing clarification of requirements to the software development team
-
Supporting the SEIT team in preparation and conduct of program reviews
-
Completing assigned tasks to meet program schedule milestones
Basic Qualifications (Required):
-
Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years of prior relevant experience, OR an Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience, OR in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required

Knowledge of Systems Engineering roles and functions, with specific experience in one or more of the following areas: operations concept development, requirements management, functional analysis/synthesis, interface definition and control, and/or verification and validation

Experience determining and developing approaches to engineering solutions
-
Experience collaborating and working in a team environment on an Engineering Program
Preferred Qualifications:
-
Experience in Satellite Command/Control, Mission Management or Flight Dynamics domain

Development experience on a government contract
-
Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps development methods
-
Understanding of automation techniques
-
Experience with Matlab
-
Experience with Python or other scripting languages

Experience working with requirements in DOORS or other requirements database

Experience working and/or leading a multi-discipline engineering team

The salary range for this role is 94,000 USD - 196,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
