The primary responsibility of this role is development of real time embedded navigation and flight control systems through the full software development lifecycle in a multidisciplinary avionics and aerospace environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serve as technical lead on projects as assigned working with customers to meet deliverables and address and resolve technical or system issues

  • Lead and participate in system design and program reviews to ensure team progress against milestones are met and tracking project schedules

  • Collaborate with electrical engineers, controls engineers and program management team members in planning design and development

  • Develop interface definitions in conjunction with design team and enforce interface control documents to record and validate system performance standards and results

  • Design code test and provide ongoing support for embedded systems software and simulation software to meet technical and customer requirements

  • Define and analyze system software design requirements and write software requirements documents to meet defined and anticipated customer needs and system quality and performance standards

  • Write software integration and test plans; conduct and lead software verification testing and integration efforts to identify required modifications and ensure optimum system performance at delivery

  • Using development workflow tools such as JIRA, Git, Subversion and requirements management applications.

  • Estimating, tracking, and communicating cost, schedule, and risk in support of program earned value metrics

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience

  • Have 5+ years of real time embedded software systems development experience including defining and documenting requirements, software design and development, programming, testing, and implementation

  • Have demonstrated team leadership experience

  • A strong working knowledge of C/C++, object oriented design, and real time operating systems

  • Experience with DO-178B/C and safety critical systems

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract

Preferred Qualifications:

  • End to end software Development activities as per DO178B/C guidelines

  • Preparation of slides and experience in participating and conducting SOI Audits

  • Preparation of software and system certification documents as per DO178B/C guidelines

  • Experience with Agile development methodologies and application to system development

  • Have knowledge and experience with the aerospace industry, sensor fusion, vehicle control, computer vision, and/or algorithm development

The salary range for this role is 94,000 USD - 196,000 USD; however, RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
