Role Overview
We are seeking talented, creative, enthusiastic design engineers to join the Interiors Customer Experience & Design team (CXD). The CXD team collaborates with a wide variety of business units within Collins Aerospace, including Business Development, Strategy, R&D, Advanced Technology groups, and cross-functional engineering and prototype teams. Together, we identify and create compelling products and experiences for our worldwide customer base.
As a design engineer within CXD, you will be a key player in the technical side of the industrial design process – ideation, product architectural layout, technical analysis, evaluation mockups, design for human factors & supporting research, CAD modeling, and more. An ideal candidate has an eye for detail, a positive attitude, the confidence to run with a project, and is a highly collaborative team player. Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to industrial design team
- Manage medium sized projects
- Develop designs to target metrics
- Conduct design reviews
- Design, manage, & evaluate prototype builds
- Organize and execute user studies
- Generate new patents
- Create high level product architectural layouts
- Manage Engineering and Design CAD models
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the design of mechanical systems
- Highly skilled with parametric CAD software
- Hands-on model making skills & previous mockup build experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
- Experience designing for variety of manufacturing methods including Vacuum Forming, Sheet Metal, Machining, Injection Molding, Composites, 3D Printing, etc.
- Human Factors experience
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future. RTX will not offer sponsorship for this position
