Collins is looking for a Material Review Board (MRB) Engineer who will be responsible for evaluating and dispositioning non-conforming Landing Gear materials and components in production on military and commercial programs.  Prior to being delegated engineering signature authority, the typical on-the-job training period alongside experienced MRB/Product Engineers is 24 months. This position reports to the team lead/manager of Material Review Board (MRB) Engineering.

This position works Onsite in Oakville.

The work shift is: Day Shift (first), working 8:00am - 4:15pm, Monday to Friday.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Evaluate non-conformances against landing gear components that are generated during production to formulate a disposition within the defined MRB.limitations.  The evaluation of the non-conforming material may require the MRB engineer to review one or more aspects of the design in order to determine the impact and repair approach.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, customer and regulatory agencies during production.
  • Resolve problems and introduce product improvements.
  • Evaluate engineering drawing change requests from in-house manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Liaise with customers on site to resolve issues on the aircraft production line for Landing Gear issues.
  • Investigate and provide disposition warranty components.
  • Perform Engineering investigations in to failures and participate in Cause and Corrective Actions.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) lean events to enhance processes and procedures.
  • Ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of problems by developing solutions.
  • Follow good Engineering practices and analysis methodology.
  • Liaise with manufacturing to clarify and provide engineering input during the manufacturing process.
  • Provide engineering support to Product Support i.e. MRB, Salvage schemes, and engineering change proposal.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned.
  • Able to support on-call after regular working hours.
  • Able to support 2nd shift, and on weekends/holidays on a rotational basis.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical or Materials Engineering from an accredited university and 5 years of engineering experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Successful candidate must meet all requirements under ITAR & CGD
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of landing gear experience as a MRB Engineer in a manufacturing environment
  • Detailed Oriented
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude
  • Good knowledge of GD&T – being able to read engineering drawings (2D and 3D)
  • Good understanding of computing tools and programs including the use of Microsoft Office, Windows 10
  • Proficient with CATIA V5
  • Good understanding of aerospace materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of FAA and EASA certification requirements
  • Familiar with PLM and ERP systems such as SAP, Matrix, SMARTeam, Citrix
