Position Summary:
Pratt & Whitney Auto Air has multiple sites across Lansing and Holt, MI. PWAA is looking for a manufacturing engineer to assist in day-to-day operations, focused on lean values, automation, continuous improvement, and root cause corrective action. Typical duties include troubleshooting equipment, analyzing data, writing work instructions, and supporting investigation. PWAA strives to be best in class and a center of excellence in airfoils and composite bonding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plans sequences of operations, estimates time required and writes process sheets and bill of materials.
- Determines from part drawing and other engineering data manufacturing methods and processes necessary for the fabrication and assembly of complex products.
- Investigates, establishes, and implements requirements for equipment, tooling, and material, including make or buy decisions and facility layout as required for new or revised products.
- Investigates and troubleshoots manufacturing problems.
- Provides technical support to operations.
- Consult with design or projects engineering concerning the suitability or produce ability of complex molds, fixtures, or parts.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or other Engineering field and 8 years of experience in a manufacturing, mechanical, or other engineering role: OR an Advanced degree and 5 years of related experience.
- The shift for this position is the alternate work week - A Shift - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience interpreting manufacturing drawings and 3D models.
- Experience using CAD software
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, experience with Kaisen events or experience with a continuous improvement program (ACE, 6s, etc.).
