Summary:

Reporting to the Supervisor, Landing Gear Assembly, as the Machine Shop Technician (Fit & Ream), you will be responsible for installation, reaming, and honing of bushings, etc. on landing gear and flight control components.

Shift – Afternoon (Monday – Thursday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.)

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform various honing applications, installation of bushings, lathe work, reaming, etc;
  • Work from drawings, general instructions, set-up and manufacturing sheets
  • Document actions in support of quality logs and communicate all discrepancies to supervision
  • Responsible for following priority schedule, ensuring lead times are met and maintaining a clean and organized work environment
  • Work in a safe team-oriented environment and participate as an active member of the implementation & execution of TPM, LEAN, 5S, and FOD prevention principles
  • Support quality initiatives by performing operator-self-verification (OSV)
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent plus recognized and accredited college/trade program
  • Minimum of 3 years of current fit and ream experience required
  • Minimum of 3+ years related experience as a machinist in a machine shop environment
  • Must be in be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints, utilize micrometers, verniers, dial bores, honing and reaming tools, etc. in support of quality requirements is required
  • Willingness to train machinists and operate other machines in the cell
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English)

  • Demonstrated ability to operate and use an overhead crane in a safe manner
  • Demonstrated ability to follow strict safety practices and procedures
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, physically demanding environment
  • The successful candidate must meet all requirements under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CCGP) and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Must be willing and able to work Afternoon Shift (Monday – Thursday, 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.)
